Day 8 - Worlds biggest Bungy and Macau

YYEESS! another stamp in the passport! After a 1 hour ferry from Hong Kong to Macau I waited in customs in Macau for about 50 minutes looking at my watching thinking I'm going to be late for my bungy jump booking off the Macau tower. Once through customs I quickly got a taxi to the tower and made it on time. Straight up to the 61st level into my harness and before you knew it I was standing on the edge of the 10th highest building in the world with the wind blowing like crazy! It's a overwhelming feeling standing on the edge of a building about to jump off off and descend 233m to the ground with only a bungy cord! But I love that feeling! 5,4,3,2,1 and off I went! once again I had the feeling of control on the way down and pretended I was in a James Bond film haha. I think the free fall was around 10 or so seconds.. I've got a DVD but will have to show you when I get back to NZ as I don't know how to convert it to a file that I can upload.

Once I went back up to collect my belongings and had a look around the observation deck I made my way to the Venetian Casino. The good thing about Macau is that there are free shuttles that run all the time so you can just jump on them. The Venetian is MASSIVE! I was reading about it and they have over 24,000 staff on at peak times! I walked in and was just blowen away by the share size of the place. There's a shopping area and a canal that runs through the shopping complex with boats etc in there.

Finally I found the food hall and got a chicken katsu curry (for those who know... I love it!) but it doesn't compare to wagamama's back home! After continuing to explore this building I looked at my watch and it was 4.30pm! I didn't know where time had gone and the last ferry back was at 7pm but I wanted to be back in Hong Kong by then. Anyway to cut a long story short I found another free shuttle back to the ferry terminal and got on a ferry.

When I got back to Hong Kong on my way home after a long complicated process I finally got to speak to Candice for the first time since I've been away! Was nice to hear her voice despite the bad reception and massive delay :-P

I got back to Shelley's around 7pm and as it my last night in Hong Kong Shelley and I decided to go out for dinner again but this time just went to a local place down the road, but a nice way to end the trip Shelley took me to this really nice Yoghurt place near her house - Candice and Anna - GET HER TO TAKE YOU THERE WHEN YOU COME!! it's sooooo nice! and they were playing daft punk! I got a boysenberry, strawberry and mango frozen yoghurt with grapes, kiwifruit and blueberrys on top :-) DEVINE!

Well that concludes my stay in Hong Kong! I would just like to thank Shelley for putting me up for the last week! it's been awesome to catch up and see her! I feel like there is so much more I could do and see but have just run out of time due to the 7's taking up 2 full days.

Day 7 - Big Buddha and Markets

View from Avenue of the Stars
Po Lin Buddha

Ngong Ping Village
I can't believe time is flying by so fast! I am already at the tail end of my Hong Kong trip! with the next stop being London then Amsterdam! - but Day 7, - I got up around 9am as most of the things in Hong Kong don't open till 10am. Was out the door at 10 and caught the MTR (subway) right out to Tung Chung - Lantau Island. Once I got there, I cued for the cable car about 20 minutes but once I was in the cabin, it was amazing! You come across the most amazing views, it's a 25 minute ride and It is just amazing! I have photo's but I will get them up tomorrow along with the ones I take today so I can break my Hong Kong album up into 2.

Once I finished the cable car ride I came into this lovely village where I had a early lunch - Ngong Ping Village. Once completing that took a quick stroll through the village and them heading to the big buddha statue (the Po Lin Buddha) - This buddha was MASSIVE! its at the top of a peak and you climb 268 steps to get to it, And the buddha itself is 34m tall!! It was bizzare seeing the amount of people that came up to the buddha just to pray, so I stood right in front of it, and it felt like people were praying to me! yuss!!

After a few photo's and wondering around the statue I went down to a monastery which was also another experience in itself. Seeing people praying everywhere and signs saying "No Meat". Once I did that I went back down to Ngong Ping Village and chilled down there - had a green tea and then was off on my merry self back down in the Cable Car.

Once I got down to the MTR in Tung Chung I headed to Mong Kok to check out the famous Ladies Markets, these markets reminded me of the ones in Thailand! It's a really good place to test your bargaining skills. I asked how much for one pair of new underwear, and she said $50 so I ended up walking away with 5 pairs for $100 (which is about $20 kiwi) YYUUSS!!

Finally I headed back to Shelley's as I was taking her out for dinner as a thank you for putting me up. She got home and we headed to TST (Tsim Sha Tsui) for dinner and to check out the light show which is displayed at 8pm-8.15pm. Went to a lovely little restaurant where the food was really satisfying! before we knew it it was 7.55pm and we had to rush our way to the waterfront. Unfortunately we missed the show, but we still got down to the waterfront which is called "Avenue of stars" where there are hand prints of Jackie Chan and other famous people. This was such a beautiful place! The view across the harbour was stunning! - it's probably one of my favorite places in Hong Kong I've been so far! Once again I'll get photo's up ASAP.

We took a nice walk along the harbour side, to get the Star Ferry back across to Wan Chai and strolled back home.

I'm off to Macau today to do the largest bungee in the world! so this will be exciting!

till tomorrow! will get photo's up ASAP.

Day 6 - Hong Kong 7s and more

Sooooooooo the last 48 hours have been massive (well yesterday more then today as I was way to ill today to do much). Woke up and got dress for the 7's wearing a lava lava and also a lay. Got to the 7's about 9.30am so we could get into the south stand without having to wait. What carnage but yet heaps of fun the south stand was. There were so many awesome costumes! everything from a group of storm troopers (behind us), a group of Steve Irwins to a dude from Avatar! it really was amazing to see such creative minds! ideas for next year if we plan to do it again. Didn't start drinking till 10am though so I had a good 30mins of soberness. Met these random people dressed as french men who had a bread funnel who were sitting in front of us, so kicked off with a funnel - good times. It was awesome to see you NZ do so well! and met a few kiwi's which was cool.

After a long winded day of drinking we went out for dinner and met up with a mate from north shore "BP" AKA Jamie Thompson. Once we had dinner we came back to Shelley's to get ready for a night out - We went to the famous Lan Kwai Fong where there are bars and clubs everywhere, went to some amazing places, didn't take to many photo's though. Shelley said it was the busiest she had ever seen it! there were just streets and streets of people - due to the 7's. All in all it was a really good night!

Next morning we woke up (not feeling to shady just yet) went out for breakfast and I couldn't eat my meal as it was going to make me sick if I did! so that was a waste of money! went to the 7's watched NZ play, and then I ended up coming home while Shelley stayed there, I needed to lie down, my head was still spinning! so around 5.30 Shelley came home and told me that NZ are in the finals so we marched back there watched the final! gutted that they lost though! but awesome that they got as far as they did. Samoa played really well and deserved to win. And there was a amazing fireworks display after that.

The rugby 7's is such a amazing experience just 3 days of partying! I recommend it to everyone to go once in there lifetime. Now here I am 9.19pm and Shell's gone out with her girlfriends and I decided to stay home as I'm just not up for another big night and still feeling a little seedy from last night. I'm going to go and check out a large buddha tomorrow out by the airport, so that should be good :-) anyways, there are heaps of photo's on my facebook heres a link:Click here but I'll add a few on here too :-)

Day 5 - Hong Kong

What a awesome place Hong Kong is!!! Yesterday after getting up I was determined to get my bearings for the place and I did. I sorted out how to use the tube and get to where ever I wanted. My first stop was Victoria Peak, this place had the most amazing view! I caught the most steepest tram I have ever caught (I'm sure a couple of the gradients were close to 45 degrees) and once I got to the top had lunch, and took in the view (a 360 degree view of Hong Kong) it was absolutely amazing! I took heaps of videos and photo's so I will upload in the next couple days. After spending about an hour and a half there I took the tram ride back down and walked to the Hong Kong botanical and Zoological gardens. Yet another amazing place! a awesome garden in the middle of a concrete jungle. There are also heaps of monkeys and those little lemma's from Matagasca (I kept singing "We like to move it, we like to MOVE it" every time I was looking at them (yes singing it to myself out loud) and I also saw pink flamingo's which were cool.

After that I went back to Causeway bay (Where Shelley lives and where I'm staying) got a bite to eat at this random little restaurant and they sat me down at this little random table for one which was so little i felt like I was sitting in a baby chair! from there, came home read my book and fell asleep as I was pretty tired from my day so far and knew I still had the 7's to attend once Shelley got home from work.

Shelley got home and before we knew it we were at the 7's! what a amazing atmosphere! We didn't dress up as it's Friday and we just wanted to be casual. Watched the Australian ladies win there final. Come Saturday - dressing up is on!

After that Shelley took me to this really cool rooftop bar called redbar, it was really windy but the bar it self and the view from there was amazing! really awesome!

Home and in bed by 12.30am! big day ahead with the 7's!

Thoughts of Hong Kong so far! -Amazing! I can see why Shelley lives here, everything is so easy and you have the option of doing everything on the cheap or expensive.

anyway, till tomorrow - will hopefully get some video and photo's up for you in the next couple days.

Day 4 - Hong Kong

Well! What a amazing city Hong Kong is... and I've only seen it at night. I got off the plane last night and OMG what a huge airport Hong Kong is! Candice - wee tip, get some currency exchange before you arrive. It was a mission for me going everywhere looking for a ATM and then when I found one it didn't work, so had to carry on looking and then when I went to go and get my train ticket to find out you needed exact change so had to go and buy a drink... to cut a long story short, I should've just got some HK money prior to getting there. Caught the airport express to hong kong and then taxi'd through town to Shelley's apartment - Awesome to see Shelley, still exactly the same and like nothings changed which is awesome. What a huge amazing city! now it's 7.37am and I'm going to get up and start my day :-) I'm going to go to a peak today that looks over the whole city and also check out this garden where there are monkey's etc! RUGBY 7's tonight! will get photo's up as soon as I take some!

Last night in Sydney

Ok, well, today after a nice sleep Lauren, myself and Sam got up got ready, waited for Sam to have a shower, then went out for breakfast up the road to find out that the place didn't serve breakfast.... gutted!, so we just got a meal instead,
Today consisted of just good times hanging with Sam and Lauren, we also went to Chatswood and checked out the shops. After that, chilled out in the sun drinking Baileys.

So dinner time came about, and we went back into the city, and had dumplings in China town near Darling Harbour.

Just a nice chilled day all in all, it's 10.30pm and I'm ready for bed now.... HONG KONG TOMORROW!!

I can't believe I'm not coming home for a while, I've only just started thinking now... wow... I'm not actually heading home, it just feels like a holiday at the moment.

Anyways! really looking forward to my new path! onwards and upwards!!!

Big ups Sammy, Lauren, James and Kayla for the awesome hospitality!

Big ups to my little brother Adam for taking me to the airport! love you! and to the people who joined me! was a nice good bye..
So left Auckland Airport.... arrived in Sydney after dribbling on a random next to me on the flight here and didn't tell him... (hehe) and Sam met me at Central station. Whoop Whoop. Mixed all afternoon then then Lauren came home and we pretty much partied like it was 99 :-) and now it's 4.15am and Sam is asleep, Lauren and I have just got home from a mission (bear in mind the last thing I said to the taxi driver was "can you please take me to a gay bar" so yep... we're pretty drunk.

Anyways... till tomorrow...
